PSV Eindhoven fans send Luke Shaw gifts after horror injury

Luke Shaw was scheduled to undergo a second operation on his right leg in Eindhoven at some point on Friday, with the left-back still coming to terms with his horror injury.

Shaw had been one of the most impressive performers for United this season so far. After an injury-marred first season mostly due to lack of fitness, Shaw had been living up to his hefty price tag with stellar performances for both Manchester United and England.

Two orthopaedic surgeons and a trauma specialist conducted an operation on Shaw’s leg on the night of the match, and now he has returned to the UK.

Shaw sustained a brutal double fracture after a crunching challenge by PSV defender Hector Moreno, with Moreno going unpunished and even being awarded the man of the match award after levelling the scoring for PSV late in the dying moments of the first half.

To wish Shaw well in his recovery, a group of PSV fans have sent the Manchester United left-back some flowers whilst being treated in hospital. PSV supporters’ club spokesman Thijs Slegers said: “This is the way you deal with an opponent in professional football.”

This is a pleasant change from the gestures we've seen from fans in Europe; which mostly results in chanting racist insults and things of that sort. This however is an absolute class act from PSV supporters.

Do you think Shaw will play again this season?
