Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea posted a tweet alongside Anthony Martial after the Red Devils secured a 3-2 victory over Southampton yesterday afternoon.

The shot-stopper, who was in terrific form against Ronald Koeman's side, praised the whole team for leaving the south coast with all three points.

Despite Graziano Pelle netting twice for the Saints, two goals from Martial and a strike from Juan Mata secured the victory for Louis van Gaal's side, who have moved up to second in the Premier League table.

After losing to Welsh outfit Swansea City before the international break, United have now secured back-to-back wins in England's elite division and sit just two points behind rivals Manchester City.

De Gea and Martial were certainly the standout players for the Red Devils at St Mary's, and the United shot-stopper hailed the club's teenage forward.

De Gea key

Martial most definitely deserves the plaudits, but De Gea once again proved just how important he is to the cause.

There's no doubt about it, the Spaniard is one of the best goalkeepers in the game and really could lead the Red Devils to glory this term. With the former Atletico Madrid man between the sticks in Manchester, Van Gaal's side really will believe that they can return to the summit of the table sooner rather than later.
