Neymar on Coutinho

Liverpool fans might be concerned over the long-term future of Philippe Coutinho given the departures of Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling in the past two years, and Neymar’s most recent comments have done little to allay fears.

The Brazilian spoke on Coutinho’s ability and revealed he believed the playmaker was good enough and had the style of play to succeed at the Nou Camp.

"I see many Brazilian players with quality today," Neymar said, as per ESPN.

"But one that I like and I think could play here is Coutinho. He has the style of Barcelona."

With Liverpool struggling it’s feasible that Coutinho might consider his situation if things don’t improve before next summer.

Losing him would certainly be a hammer blow to Brendan Rodgers’ plans.

Carragher the United manager?

In other news, Jamie Carragher has admitted he would like to manage Manchester United, but only with a view to relegating them.

The Kop hero tweeted that he could guarantee relegation within two years, so it’s safe to say he isn’t going to be on the shortlist of managers who could potentially replace Louis van Gaal.

Smalling's jibe

Last but not least, Chris Smalling has aimed a sly dig at Liverpool by way of liking a photo on Instagram that jibed the Reds for their inability to be prolific in front of goal so far this campaign.

A Twitter post pointing to the fact that Lucas Leiva is Liverpool’s top goalscorer in European football this season was put onto Instagram by The Sport Bible, with Smalling then subsequently 'liking' their post. Read into that what you will.
