Atletico Madrid full-back Juan Valera is confident it will not be long before he is back in competitive action after overcoming his serious knee injury.

Valera was back training with his team-mates on Monday for the first time since suffering cruciate ligament damage in his right knee during March´s game against Deportivo La Coruna.

The Spain Under-21 international still does not know when he will be ready for a first-team return, but he feels it is not far away, and he said: "I am going to take it little by little as I return to the squad and then we will see what happens. I don´t want to put a date on when I am ready to play again, but it is not far away."
