Manchester United star Marcos Rojo will not be signing for Italian outfit Napoli in the January transfer window, according to the player's agent.

As reported by talkSPORT, Carlos Goncalves has insisted that the Argentine international is happy at Old Trafford and has 'no intention' of departing the club.

The future of the versatile defender has been the subject of much debate in recent time, with reports over the summer speculating that his days were numbered at the Theatre of Dreams.

Despite only signing for the Red Devils in the transfer window of 2014, it appeared that the player was set to leave the club behind after a falling out with manager Louis van Gaal.

Rojo, of course, failed to complete a move away from Manchester, but recent reports have suggested that he could sign for Serie A side Napoli.

However, these links have quickly been dismissed by Goncalves, who told a Naples radio station: "There is no need to talk about it.

"The player is happy at United and has no intention of leaving the club."

Big chance

Rojo's debut campaign on English soil was by no means a disaster, but he failed to really prove his credentials under the Dutch regime.

However, following Luke Shaw's nightmare injury, it now appears that he could be set for a lengthy stint in the first-team. Shaw's major setback certainly gives Rojo an opportunity to become a key man at Old Trafford.

The Argentine ace has the ability to shine in England's elite division. He's strong, quick and good on the ball, but must now prove himself week in, week out. It's a huge season ahead for the defender.
