The WWE have been seeking to find a new Latino star ever since Rey Mysterio officially left the organization back in May, but speculation has ramped up in the last week or so.

The man linked to the role in recent days is Carlito - the Puerto Rican former WWE Superstar who hasn't been seen in the company since 2010.

However, whilst the 36-year-old is said to be keen on a return, the WWE may have ruined their chances of bringing in the star after one decision during early negotiations.

As reported by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, via Wrestlingnewssource.com, the WWE did offer Carlito a deal recently, but the wrestler was left unimpressed by the money involved.

Although Carlito turned down the initial offer, there is some hope that, should the WWE go back with an improved financial package, he would be willing to make a return after his five-year absence.

The WWE will be hoping to have the 5ft 10 inch superstar back on board sooner rather than later as, as relayed in the same report, they are waiting for a Latino star to arrive in order to move forward with a certain storyline.

Reports suggest that the WWE are so keen to get Carlito back on the roster in particular so that they can complete the re-packaging of the Los Matadores tag team.

The former WWE star has strong links with the current tag team duo, being the real-life brother of Diego and the cousin of Fernando.
