Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has placed the name of Victor Valdes on his list of potential transfer targets.

According to the Daily Mail, the Portuguese tactician, who has endured a tricky start to the campaign in west London, could swoop for the Manchester United outcast in the near future.

In fact, the report claims the Blues boss is worried that an injury to goalkeeper Asmir Begovic could seriously derail the club this season.

Following the sale of Petr Cech to Arsenal, Begovic signed for the Stamford Bridge outfit from Stoke City this past summer.

With Thibaut Courtois on the sidelines, the Bosnian is now the club's only recognised first-team goalkeeper, so it appears that they could swoop for Valdes.

The report goes on to claim, however, that it's unlikely that the Red Devils would sanction any deal to send Valdes to the Premier League champions.

But, Valdes must depart Old Trafford sooner rather than later. At the end of the day, the former Barcelona man is enduring a torrid time in Manchester.

It's seemingly unlikely that Valdes will play for the club this term, so it's crucial he manages to find a new team in an attempt to get his career back on track. Ultimately, despite approaching the latter years of his career, the Spaniard would still prove a fine coup for a number of sides in world football.
