Steven Gerrard reveals how he stopped Luis Suarez joining Arsenal

Steven Gerrard can be credited for doing many great things during his Liverpool career, and keeping Luis Suarez from joining Arsenal is one of them. The Anfield icon has revealed how he helped to patch up Suarez’s relationship with Brendan Rodgers when it looked certain he would leave the club in 2013, while also admitting that he told Suarez to wait for either Barcelona or Real Madrid. In any case Gerrard’s wise words certainly worked, though that will be little consolation to Arsenal fans, who are still waiting for Arsene Wenger to sign another top striker. Moving on, and the agent of Anthony Martial has hit out at Wenger for his analysis of the new Manchester United striker. Philippe Lamboley, who helped engineer Martial’s big move last month, said Wenger had been following his client for some time, but chose not to buy him because he sees him as a winger.
