Danny Murphy: Brendan Rodgers has been 'killed' by recruitment policy

Published Add your comment

With Liverpool having started the season unconvincingly, Anfield morale at an all-time low and fans openly questioning the skills of the manager, it’s not really a good time to be Brendan Rodgers. Well, Danny Murphy is the latest to have had his say on the Northern Irishman’s struggles and he believes the problem lies with the recruitment policy on Merseyside. Murphy said the issue had ‘killed’ Rodgers at times, and claimed there were probably occasions when Rodgers wanted to sign a certain player, but was told no. Moving on, Steven Gerrard has also revealed his thoughts on the Liverpool boss, stating that he believes Rodgers was over-confident with his team talks ahead of the fateful title-deciding clash with Chelsea two seasons ago. Gerrard admitted he was worried his teammates thought they would blow the Blues away - his paranoia was given its due credit as Liverpool succumbed to a defeat that cost them the Premier League.
