Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is fighting to save his Anfield career, according to the Daily Mail.

The Belgium shot-stopper has endured a tricky start to the season under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers on Merseyside.

Despite proving his credentials at the club last term, Mignolet's form has dipped of late, and the Mail now claim that Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.

It appears that the Reds will look to sign another 'keeper in the January transfer window, so Mignolet has a couple of months to get back to his best.

Rodgers also has the option of handing Adam Bogdan a key role at Anfield, but it's far from certain as to whether the Reds boss will turn to the ex-Bolton man in the Premier League. Bogdan starred in Liverpool's Capital Cup win against Carlisle on Wednesday night, saving three penalties in the shootout.

Replacement needed

Ultimately, Mignolet's entire stint at Anfield has been a struggle. After a nightmare start, the ex-Sunderland man had enjoyed a steady period, but things are starting to turn sour for him once again.

In truth, if Liverpool are serious about challenging for the Premier League title, then they're going to need a far more established goalkeeper. It looks set to be a huge couple of months for Mignolet, who seemingly has it all to do to prove his critics wrong.
