Liverpool fans will be relieved that Lazar Markovic has only left Anfield on loan, rather than a permanent deal, after they see this stunning run from the Serbia international.

Markovic - while playing for Fenerbahce against Besiktas on Sunday - picked the ball up inside his own half, breezed past two opponents, then showed off his remarkable pace by knocking the ball 30 yards ahead of him and latching onto it before whipping in a left-footed cross.

Impressed Liverpool fans reacted on social media - and you can see some of the best tweets by scrolling down this page.

Liverpool paid £20 million - per BBC Sport - for Markovic in the summer of 2014 following his impressive year with Portuguese outfit Benfica.

Brendan Rodgers, however, failed to get the best out of the explosive winger and subsequently agreed to send him out on loan to Fenerbahce for the 2015-16 campaign.

Liverpool fans react on Twitter

After watching Markovic's blistering run through the middle of the pitch, some Liverpool fans are angry that the 21-year-old is currently plying his trade in the Turkish league, rather than the Premier League.

Many Liverpool supporters are disillusioned with Rodgers following an underwhelming start to the new season, and seeing the likes of Markovic and Mario Balotelli flourish away from Anfield in recent weeks has merely exacerbated their feelings of frustration.

Here are a selection of tweets from Liverpool fans after watching Markovic's incredible quick run for Fenerbahce.
