Rummenigge hails loyal Scholl

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge paid a glowing tribute to Mehmet Scholl as the much-decorated midfielder prepared to pull on the Bavarian club´s jersey for the final time on Wednesday night.

Scholl played for Bayern for 15 seasons, winning a record eight Bundesliga titles, the 2001 Champions League, the 1996 UEFA Cup and the DFB-Pokal on five occasions.

Rummenigge was full of praise for the midfield general as his team prepared to face Barcelona in the inaugural Franz Beckenbauer Cup, telling "Bayern Munich Football Club seeks to build partnerships with its players, and Mehmet fulfilled his side of the partnership with great commitment and fairness."
