Hitzfeld looks for improvement

Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has warned his players they will be punished by Werder Bremen this weekend unless they can iron out their defensive mistakes.

A new-look Bayern side opened their Bundesliga campaign with a seemingly comfortable 3-0 win over newly-promoted Hansa Rostock last Saturday but Hitzfeld is afraid Thomas Schaaf´s side will expose their frailties when the two teams meet.

"We did our job. We earned three points, and nothing more," Hitzfeld said of the win over Hansa Rostock. "But we overdid the power-play at the start. We charged forward en masse and invited our opponents to hit us on the break. It could all have gone horribly wrong."
