Lyon midfielder Kim Kallstrom has apologised to his team-mates after being sent off during the 1-0 defeat to Toulouse at the weekend.

The Swede received his marching orders after 34 minutes for remonstrating with the fourth official after the referee failed to spot him being elbowed in the face by Nicolas Dieuze.

"I want to say sorry to my team, I put them in a difficult situation," said former Rennes star Kallstrom, who is now hoping to avoid a lengthy ban following the incident. "In my defence I´m not often a subject for the disciplinary commission. Since I came to France I´ve only been sent off once when I was with Rennes."
