Liverpool scouts are keeping tabs on Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Marko Rog, with the club seemingly ready to pay £8million to land the 20-year-old in the January transfer window. Reports relayed by the Liverpool Echo say that representatives from Anfield have been seen monitoring Rog, who only joined Zagreb in June, with it believed the Reds have been following him for some time. In fact, Liverpool scout Barry Hunter reportedly tracked the midfielder’s progress last season, but Rodgers decided not to sign him in the summer in order to aid his development. In other news, John Aldridge has claimed that Christian Benteke should not start the Merseyside derby this Sunday, as he should be made to fight for his place. The Belgian wasn’t in the side that beat Aston Villa 3-2, and Aldridge thinks Rodgers should pick the same front three as he did for that game.
