Steven Gerrard produced some fantastic moments in a Liverpool shirt.

His role in their Champions League triumph against AC Milan, his late goal against Olympiakos to help them through to the knockout stages in that same season and the performance to see off Manchester United 4-1 at Old Trafford will love long in the memory of Reds supporters.

But what does Gerrard believe was his best overall performance in a Liverpool shirt? Well, according to the LA Galaxy midfielder, that would be his display in the 2006 FA Cup final against West Ham United.

The former England captain scored two goals and provided an assist at the Millenium Stadium - his second strike coming in the 91st minute to level the game at 3-3 - to help Liverpool win the cup on penalties.

"Performance-wise, yeah I performed pretty well in the Champions League final but against West Ham in Cardiff it just all clicked," Gerrard told the BBC, as per the Mirror.

"I scored a couple of goals and got an assist and my general play was on the money that day. It was one of the best days I had in a Liverpool shirt."

Gerrard left Anfield during the summer after Brendan Rodgers failed to offer him the coaching role he desired.

However, it seems the 35-year-old has adapted well to his new life in Los Angeles and has helped the Galaxy recover from their poor start to sit top of the Western Conference.

The former Liverpool captain is chasing his first league title, having failed to lift the Premier League during his time on Merseyside.

But his legacy in the north-west will not be tainted by that failure as he will always be considered among the greats at Anfield.
