Lyon coach Alain Perrin was more than satisfied after seeing his side open the defence of their Ligue 1 crown with a 2-0 home win over Auxerre.

Goals in each half from Milan Baros and Karim Benzema secured a deserved victory at the Stade Gerland for Les Gones, who are bidding for a seventh straight league title, and Perrin admitted he could not have asked for much more.

"It made for a very good evening, with the result that we wanted," said the former Sochaux coach. "We controlled the situation. Clearly, we can get better, but it´s a good omen for the following games."
