Anthony Martial has thanked Manchester United fans for their support on Instagram after Wednesday night’s vital 2-1 win over Wolfsburg at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal’s side came from 1-0 down to secure all three points against their German opponents, with the goals coming either side of half-time from Juan Mata and Chris Smalling.

Martial failed to score for the second successive match, but the 19-year-old still managed to produce another eye-catching display in arguably his most important game yet since arriving at Old Trafford from AS Monaco at the end of the summer transfer window.

“Good Win tonight thanks for you support,” Martial posted on Instagram.

The teenager also posted the link on Twitter - and, judging by the majority of replies, it’s clear that Manchester United fans have already fallen in love with the club’s £36 million signing.

Martial already Man United's best striker

As Gary Neville explained on Monday Night Football earlier this week, Martial could not have made a more impressive start to his Manchester United career.

The recently-capped France international has settled in at Old Trafford quicker than anyone predicted, having scored or assisted at least one goal in four of his first six appearances.

Martial, who is rapid along the ground and so powerful for his age, has already managed to establish himself as Manchester United’s first-choice centre-forward - and he will lead the line on Sunday, when the Red Devils take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

He could have been playing his football at the north London ground had Arsene Wenger decided to take a gamble on the youngster, but the Frenchman’s decision to snub the teenager is beginning to look like a bad mistake.
