Christian Benteke wants to play under Jose Mourinho

It was Liverpool who signed Christian Benteke this summer, but perhaps Chelsea who the Belgian striker secretly desired to play for. OK, we’ll admit, that might be pushing it a little, but the striker did say that he was keen to work with Jose Mourinho, who is, of course, currently manager of Chelsea. Benteke shot to Premier League fame with Aston Villa but hasn’t yet hit the dizzy heights at Anfield under Brendan Rodgers. Maybe it is a manager with Mourinho’s panache that is needed to get the best out of him. Meanwhile, Joe Gomez has claimed that the Europa League is a competition he is looking forward to playing in, refuting the idea that it won’t be beneficial. Speaking on the chances he’s been afforded by Rodgers thus far, Gomez said the clash against Sion tonight would give him another shot at impressing.
