Louis van Gaal appears to be worried about fatigue affecting his Manchester United squad ahead of their trip to Arsenal on Sunday.

The Red Devils are top of the Premier League and have used a similar starting line-up in all of their games so far this season.

The Old Trafford club have played four matches in ten days, culminating in their 2-1 win over Wolfsburg in the Champions League last night.

The Dutch boss would ideally like to get his squad together to work on their tactical approach ahead of the crunch tie, but will allow his players to rest on Friday in the hope of avoiding any issues.

As per the Telegraph, he said: "The solution is recovery, recovery, recovery. That is why it’s so difficult to prepare for the match against Arsenal.

“We have to see the evaluation from my fatigue specialist."

As a result of United's congested fixture list, the likes of Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial have played a lot of football over the past fortnight.

However, Arsenal have experienced the same issue - and any team hoping for success come May, will have to avoid tiredness in their squad.

The Red Devils can heap more misery of the Gunners with a win on Sunday following Arsenal's shocking home defeat to Olympiakos - leaving them on the verge of Champions League failure.

The Old Trafford club are high on confidence after four wins on the bounce in all competitions - but the trip to the Emirates should provide their toughest test of the season.
