Liverpool fans react to uninspiring Merseyside derby draw against Everton

Liverpool battled their way to a 1-1 draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby this afternoon, but that result wasn't enough to save beleaguered boss Brendan Rodgers from yet more criticism.

According to the Sun on Sunday this morning, Liverpool's owners were contemplating letting Rodgers go, with former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp lined up as his replacement.

The paper claimed that Rodgers' future could hinge on the result against Everton, and while they're unlikely to pull the trigger after Danny Ings' opener was wiped out by Romelu Lukaku's goal at Goodison Park, some Liverpool fans were urging them to do just that.

The draw against the Toffees today means Liverpool have earned 12 points from eight games so far, and some of the club's fans have had enough.

One tweeted: "#FSG if you have any interest in @LFC and want to protect your investment 💰💰💰💰 then sack #Rodgers with immediate effect the mans clueless", while another added: "If Liverpool do not win today and the owners still doesn't sack Rodgers, I'm convinced that he has the nudes of John Henry's wife."

Last week's win against Aston Villa and the return of striker Daniel Sturridge appeared to have lifted the pressure from Rodgers' shoulders, however the 1-1 draw with Sion in the Europa League in mid-week followed by the stalemate against Roberto Martinez's side could prove to be the tipping point.

Reports in Europe today claim that Klopp has agreed a deal to take over Rodgers, who will be relieved during the international break - and that's certainly a move that some Liverpool fans are backing. One said: "Apparently Klopp has agreed to take #LFC job. I HOPE THIS IS TRUE!!!!", and his thoughts were echoed by another fan who said:  Rodgers OUT. Liverpool needs Jurgen Klopp real fast and His really good. I can't wait"
