Carlo Ancelotti in London amid Liverpool link

Football News

Former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti was in London last night following speculation that he could replace Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool's next manager, according to the Daily Mail.

Rodgers was axed as Reds boss yesterday evening after the Anfield outfit only managed to secure a 1-1 draw with rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby.

After eight games, Liverpool are way back in 10th position - six points behind league leaders Manchester City. It appears that either Ancelotti or ex-Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp could become the club's next manager.

The Mail suggests Ancelotti, who flew into London from Italy, is willing to discuss the job role with Anfield chiefs, however, Klopp remains the favourite for the job.

Klopp has been out of work since the end of last season, of course, but it now appears that he could return to management sooner rather than later.

The same report goes on to claim that Fenway Sports Group won't appoint a caretaker manager as they expect to hire a new boss ahead of the club's fixture with Tottenham on October 17.

Klopp or Ancelotti?

One thing is for sure, Liverpool fans will be expecting either Klopp or Ancelotti to replace Rodgers in the coming days.

Ancelotti is one of the most experienced and established managers in the game, but Klopp appears to be the man for the Kop.

The enigmatic German would no doubt bring the spark back to Merseyside, so it's not entirely surprising that he's the manager so many want.
