Arsenal ace Per Mertesacker took to Twitter last night following his side's convincing victory over rivals Manchester United.

The German international, who enjoyed a strong performance against the likes of Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney and Co., attached a picture of himself alongside the Red Devils captain, labelling it 'synchronised football'.

Mertesacker and Gabriel starred at the back as Arsene Wenger's side put the game to bed in the opening 20 minutes of proceedings.

Chilean ace Alexis Sanchez netted twice in north London while playmaker Mesut Ozil also found the back of the net for the Gunners in the easy win.

Following the victory, Wenger's side now sit in second place in the Premier League - two points behind league leaders Manchester City.

One thing is for sure, Mertesacker enjoyed the victory over the club's rivals.

Title contenders

In truth, you never quite know where you stand with Arsenal. They were awful against Olympiacos in the Champions League as they crashed to a 3-2 home defeat, but responded in style against Louis van Gaal's side.

With the likes of Sanchez, Ozil and Theo Walcott starring in north London, Wenger's side have to believe that they really can secure the title this season. Manchester City may well be the favourites, but it really could be time for Wenger's side to end their title drought.
