One Liverpool player who might be happier than most about the news that Jurgen Klopp could be on his way to Anfield this week is Mario Balotelli.

The Italian striker, who Brendan Rodgers offloaded on a season-long loan to AC Milan in the summer following a disastrous debut campaign with the Reds, once cheered on the revered German coach via Twitter.

On the morning of the 2013 Champions League final, which was contested between Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich at Wembley Stadium, Balotelli tweeted: “KLOPP come on!”

Sadly for both Klopp and Balotelli, it was Bayern Munich who lifted the European Cup in London, thanks to an 89th-minute winner from Arjen Robben.

But there’s now a chance that Balotelli could find himself working under Klopp next season, with the former BVB boss set to sign a three-year deal with the Merseyside outfit.

Second chance for Balotelli and Markovic?

Balotelli’s Liverpool career appeared to be over after Rodgers decided to offload the Italian back to Milan in August; however, the possibility of the enigmatic striker returning to the club in 2016 is suddenly a distinct possibility.

Lazar Markovic, the talented Serbia international who Rodgers signed for £20 million before loaning to Fenerbahce a year later, may also feel Klopp’s arrival will offer him a chance to kickstart his Liverpool career next season.

Some Liverpool fans on Twitter certainly think so. Here are some of the best tweets regarding the potential returns of Balotelli and Markovic.
