Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld hailed the near-perfect goalscoring debut of Germany international Miroslav Klose after the 2-1 win over Brazilian champions Sao Paulo in Hong Kong on Sunday.

The 29-year-old only completed his switch from fellow Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen on Wednesday, but was handed a first appearance in a Bayern shirt at the Hong Kong Stadium in an event to mark the 10th anniversary of the former British colony´s reunification with China.

"It was very important for a new player to score in his very first match, it is good for his morale and will help him in the future," said Hitzfeld. "Having a successful debut for Bayern Munich will help him a lot for the future."
