WWE: Dean Ambrose set for another main event push

Dean Ambrose is currently involved in a feud opposite The Wyatt Family, but it’s clear he’s not the focal point.

All of the focus has fallen on the likes of Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt and even Braun Strowman in a feud which should end at Hell in a Cell.

Regardless of Ambrose not being the number one man in the feud, he’s still expected to receive a main event push in the coming months.

The Wrestling Observer Radio have reported that Ambrose could be set for big things in the near future and it all stems from John Cena.

By now we all know the current situation with Cena. He’s going to be taking several months off for personal reasons after the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

He’s been removed from all live events until the end of December and Ambrose is expected to take his place during the events. If this is the case then WWE officials may be forced to put Ambrose in bigger storylines and turn him into a main event superstar once more.

The big question surrounding this entire situation is what happens with Cena’s United States Championship.

As of this writing, he’s still the United States Champion and there’s a chance he could drop it at Hell in a Cell.

At the minute, there are no reports suggesting Ambrose will be the one that dethrones Cena to become the United States Champion. It would be a good move as he’s one of the biggest faces on the roster.

Whether he can continue making the championship relevant is another story, something Cena has succeeded in this year.

The last time we saw Ambrose as a true main event star was when competed opposite Seth Rollins over a number of months for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Since then he’s been very limited and a big push is definitely deserved, however, it does look unlikely that it will be another World Championship feud.

Reigns and Wyatt are set to go one on one at Hell in a Cell which means Ambrose won’t have a feud or a match. It looks as if a tag team match against Harper and Strowman could go ahead with Randy Orton as his partner.

There’s always the chance the WWE do go ahead with the match with Cena, but they only have three weeks to build it all up so it does look unlikely.

The perfect option would have been a heel Chris Jericho taking on Ambrose. Jericho made his return at Night of Champions and some tension was teased at the end, but nothing really came from it, so maybe the WWE will look to go down that avenue to elevate Ambrose back towards the top.

The fans love Ambrose and would love to see him back at the top again. He needs a good feud and he needs one quick if he’s to solidify himself as a top star in the company.
