David Beckham shared a dressing room with a number of legendary footballers throughout his playing career.

Plying his trade for Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and PSG he was able to take to the field with the likes of Clarence Seedorf, Roberto Carlos, Luis Figo, Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs.

He also played with Paul Scholes and Zinedine Zidane. The question is often asked: who is the best midfielder to ever play football?

The question often boils down to a choice between the Englishman or Frenchman, with a few other suggestions coming from supporters of Liverpool and Chelsea.

But who does Beckham himself think was the better player? Well, in an interview for UNICEF's Match For Children - that will take place at Old Trafford on November 14 - he revealed his opinion.

The former England captain said: "It is really hard to separate the two of them because they are both quiet in character, but when you get them on the field their talent is undeniable.

"I was lucky enough to grow up with Scholesy and then I was lucky enough to then go on to Real Madrid and spend three years with probably the best player I've ever played with."

It is no insult for Scholes to be behind Zidane in Beckham's estimations. The current Real Madrid Castilla coach is one of the best players to ever grace the hallowed turf.

His winning goal and man of the match display in the 2002 Champions League final will forever be remembered as one of the greatest moments in football history.

Manchester United fans will often say Scholes was the best midfielder to ever play for the Red Devils, and they would not be far from the truth.

However, the best midfielder ever, well that goes to Zidane, hands down.
