Football News

Arsenal fans, welcome to your daily round-up.

There isn’t much we can say for today bar the fact it’s a fairly usual Wednesday that’s sure to fade into obscurity once the clock tolls for the beginning of Thursday.

That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy it while it’s here though. What better way to do that than to settle down and read the latest gossip? Don’t worry, we’ll answer that. There is no better way.

Guardiola the dream

Arsenal are already making contingency plans for when Arsene Wenger eventually leaves the club, with Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola the man they want most of all.

That’s according to Daily Mirror journalist John Cross, who supposedly said that the powers that be at the Gunners are of the mindset that Guardiola would make for a perfect successor to Wenger.

The Spaniard doesn’t look likely to stay with Bayern and build a dynasty there, and he’s yet to conquer English football, so perhaps Arsenal would offer themselves to him well.

That said, Wenger still reigns supreme in north London, and it can be assumed that he doesn’t want to leave anytime soon.

Sanchez fear

Elsewhere, Arsenal are worried that Alexis Sanchez may worsen a groin complaint while on international duty with Chile.

The forward is heading into the break with said injury but is adamant that he will feature in the two games Chile have to play. Given his current league form, we’d say that’s bad news.

Benzema regrets not moving?

Lastly, Karim Benzema fears he may have made a mistake over his decision to stick with Real Madrid this summer rather than entertain the idea of a move to Arsenal.

In somewhat hard to believe reports, it’s said Benzema may well regret completely ruling out a Santiago Bernabeu departure this year given the hand he’s been dealt since Rafael Benitez took charge of the club.
