Liverpool fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news that Jurgen Klopp has agreed to become the Reds’ new manager.

Sky Sports Germany were the first to announce that Klopp had reached an agreement with the Merseyside outfit on Thursday afternoon.

The Guardian, meanwhile, understand the German coach is currently on his way to Liverpool to sign his contract. An official announcement is expected to be made later tonight, while the 48-year-old is likely to be formally unveiled on Friday.

Klopp will become only the second German coach to manage in the Premier League - following Felix Magath, who failed to prevent Fulham’s relegation in 2014 - but the most successful manager in the league’s history, Sir Alex Ferguson, does not believe that the nationality of Liverpool’s new manager will have any bearing over whether he succeeds or fails at Anfield.

It’s safe to say that Liverpool fans are overjoyed by the coup of Klopp - and it seems Fenway Sports Group chose the right time to sack his predecessor, Brendan Rodgers.

While there are no guarantees the appointment will pay off for Liverpool, the decision to hire Klopp has already lifted the club’s supporters who, until late on Sunday, were despondent and disillusioned following an underwhelming start to the 2015-16 campaign.
