Benfica midfielder and former Australia Under-20 captain Kaz Patafta has joined Hyundai A-League champions Melbourne Victory on a one-year loan deal.

The 18-year-old made three appearances for the Portuguese giants´ first team last season and was part of the senior Socceroos training squad for the World Cup in Germany last year.

Victory coach Ernie Merrick told the club´s official website: "Kaz is a terrific talent with enormous potential. The quality of our league and the calibre of facilities here in Melbourne makes us a really viable alternative for big European clubs looking to loan players like Kaz."
