Former Liverpool full-back John Arne Riise expressed his excitement with the Reds’ appointment of Jurgen Klopp on Twitter this morning.

The 35-year-old, who spent seven years at Anfield and now plies his trade with Delhi Dynamos FC in the Indian Super League, hopes the ex-Borussia Dortmund head coach can bring the good times back to Liverpool.

Riise may also have taken a subtle dig at Brendan Rodgers by claiming it is time to make Anfield a place that opposing teams fear to visit once again.

“I’m so freaking excited with the Klopp signing!” the former Norway international admitted on Twitter, “Time to make Anfield a place oppositions [sic] fear again. Bring back the good old days.Good times.”

Riise then watched Klopp’s first interview with Liverpool’s official website and, like the rest of his fellow supporters, was impressed with the German coach’s first words as the Reds new boss.

“Just seen Klopp first interview as manager of our great club @LFC,” he added, ”Gave me goosebumps!! What a way to start!!”

And the defender was left even more excited after watching Klopp’s opening press conference.

“Never ever seen a better press conference from a new manager!” he tweeted, “The energy, how he speaks, everything! Give this guy time! What a man! @LFC.”

Expectation levels have increased already

Klopp has already endeared himself to the Liverpool fans simply by being his charismatic self.

The feel-good factor has returned to Anfield and there will be a belief when Liverpool step out at White Hart Lane next weekend that something special is about to happen.

Expectation levels will only increase between now and October 17, when Liverpool take on Tottenham in north London, but will Klopp be able to deliver the results and silverware that fans so desperately crave?
