It may have been his toughest season at a professional footballer, but David Beckham was all smiles at the last after helping Real Madrid clinch their first Primera Liga title since 2003.

Beckham admitted earlier this week that the last 12 months had probably been the hardest of his 15-year career. But the former England captain was able to put all that behind him as he won his first piece of major silverware with Madrid since joining the Spanish giants four years ago.

"It´s been an incredible experience - but all I remember now is the great things," he said following Madrid´s 3-1 home win over Real Mallorca, a victory that clinched the title. "Winning this now puts to bed everything else."
