Jurgen Klopp's appointment at Liverpool has been greeted with great excitement. The German manager arrives on Merseyside with a big reputation following a successful spell at Borussia Dortmund.

During his highly impressive first press conference at the Anfield club, the 48-year-old had some words of warning for the current crop of Liverpool stars.

Klopp told his team that it is either his way or the highway as he looks to end the Reds' long wait for a Premier League title.

As per the Mirror, the new Anfield boss said: “We have to do it one way and that is my way. They have to listen to what I say, that is very important.

“If you have the ball, you have to be creative but you have to be prepared that if you lose the ball the counter-pressing is very important. It is very important in football. It is not a proposal, it is law.

“You cannot decide 'Ummmm…’ You have to do it - and you will. That is what we all have to learn. I believe it is better to have 11 players do the same thing wrong than everybody doing what they want.”

As Steven Gerrard said on Instagram, it is an exciting time to be a Red. The arrival of Klopp has completely transformed the mood around Liverpool.

With the Reds currently sitting tenth in the Premier League - three points off the top four - and Chelsea making a terrible start to their title defence, they have a great opportunity to secure Champions League football.

Despite being unproven outside of Germany, Klopp is considered among the top coaches in the world.

He will have to hit the ground running, though, as his first game in charge of Liverpool is a trip to fellow European hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur.
