Ronaldinho has been ruled out of Barcelona´s home derby with Espanyol on Saturday after the title-chasers failed to get his suspension overturned.

Barca coach Frank Rijkaard had included Ronaldinho in his squad for the match in the hope he might be available, but the Spanish Sports Disciplinary Committee (CEDD) on Friday ruled that the Brazilian´s one-match ban must stand.

Ronaldinho was sent off for kicking out at opposing defender David Belenguer during the 1-0 win over Getafe a fortnight ago, but Barca twice appealed against the subsequent suspension - first to the Spanish FA and then the CEDD - claiming their player had been provoked.
