Spain coach Luis Aragones believes his side were fully deserving of their 2-0 victory over Latvia, even though he admits both his side´s goals were highly fortuitous.

Spain needed an own goal from Latvia defender Arturs Zakreshevskis to take the lead and they made the game safe when Xavi´s shot took a huge deflection off Barcelona team-mate Andres Iniesta before looping over the stranded Latvian goalkeeper Aleksandrs Kolinko and into the net.

"We have had luck with the two goals, that is clear," said Aragones. "We have found it hard work in the first half, because they (Latvia) were well organised, but after the goal we were able to control more of the game."
