The Euro 2008 qualifier between Denmark and Sweden was abandoned after referee Herbert Fandel was attacked by a fan.

With the scores level at 3-3 heading into the final minute, the German official sent off Danish midfielder Christian Poulsen and awarded a penalty to Sweden.

The decision prompted one member of the crowd to run onto the pitch and begin harassing Fandel. Fandel immediately called a halt to the match, with the result now to be decided by UEFA´s disciplinary committee.
