Espanyol striker Luis Garcia has been called up to the Spain squad as a replacement for the injured Fernando Torres.

Torres limped out of training on Tuesday with an ankle injury and he will miss Spain´s two upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers against Latvia and Liechtenstein. His place has now gone to the uncapped Luis Garcia, who joins Osasuna striker Roberto Soldado in earning his first summons to the national team.

"It is a dream come true. It is a shame that it has come about in this way, due to an injury to a team-mate because nobody likes to be called up in this manner," Luis Garcia said on the Espanyol website.
