Liverpool wanted Carlo Ancelotti as manager before Jurgen Klopp - Redknapp

Anfield has turned into dreamland since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp as new Liverpool manager, but fans might be surprised to learn that the German wasn’t the club’s first choice. According to Harry Redknapp, sources have told him that Carlo Ancelotti was the priority candidate for FSG, with Klopp presumably only appointed after the Italian turned down the offer. Even if true it makes very little difference to the Liverpool faithful, many of whom are already staunch Klopp supporters, but all the same it’s an interesting statement. Moving on, Klopp supposedly outlined his plans for his Liverpool team moving forward to the nine first-team players who aren’t absent on international duty at training yesterday morning. We can’t divulge what was said, because honestly we don’t really know, but it’s sure to be no time at all before it becomes apparent.
