Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin has enjoyed something of a meteoric rise to stardom given that in the not too distant past he was an unheralded entity at the Emirates Stadium. The man Gunners fans have to thank? Bacary Sagna. We’re not making it up, Bellerin has revealed how Sagna was a mentor and role model when he first arrived at the club, indicating that it was the Frenchman who had helped him to settle. Sagna left a bitter taste in the mouths of Gunners fans when he left for Manchester City last year, but it appears his legacy is taking shape in the form of Bellerin. In team news, Nacho Monreal has agreed to a new three-year deal with Arsenal, according to reports. It’s believed the Spanish full-back might well be getting a pay rise on his £50,000-a-week wages, but at the moment it’s merely at the point of speculation.
