Germany captain Michael Ballack could make his comeback for the national team as early as next month after an ankle operation.

The 30-year-old midfielder has been called up by coach Joachim Low for their Euro 2008 qualifiers against San Marino and Slovakia on June 2 and 6 respectively.

Ballack has been out of action since undergoing surgery at the end of April, but Low admits he will not rush him back to fitness, as he said: "Michael would like to play, at least in the second game, but we will not take any risks."
