Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expects his side to run a backfield committee following the injury to starting running back Jamaal Charles over the weekend.
The Pro Bowler tore his ACL in his right knee while he was trying to perform a cut during a run against the Chicago Bears last weekend. He is out now for the rest of the season and therefore, the Chiefs will need a replacement in the starting running back slot.
Reid knows how much of a loss this is as he said, according to ESPN: "You know you're not going to replace Jamaal (lost to a torn ACL). He's one of the best. Really, when it's all said and done, one of the best in the history of the game."

However, the Chiefs head coach has also revealed today that the backfield will now be run in a committee using backups Knile Davis and Charcandrick West, rather than just one player. A wise decision as Charles' 71 rushes for 364 yards and four touchdowns so far this year is going to be difficult to replicate.
According to NFL.com: Reid said the team has a "lot of trust in Knile," but called him "different" than Charles, saying that West "is getting better every week" and remains the "closer" comparison to Jamaal, citing West's "quick moves, you know the feet and dancing and all of that stuff. Knile is going to pound you and he's got real good speed to go with that."
Charles is one of, if not, the best player on the Chiefs' offense and a player which the team centralized around in order to try and reach the playoffs this year in a competitive AFC West.
But his injury brings to an end any postseason hopes the Chiefs had, as they simply don't have enough weapons on the offense to make opposing defenses guess where they are going to go. The ball is either going to Jeremy Maclin or Travis Kelce.
