Anthony Martial's dream start to his Manchester United career has continued after he scooped the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.

The world's most expensive teenager has hit the ground running in England and was rewarded for his fine form this morning.

Having come off the bench to score a fine solo goal on his Old Trafford debut, the Red Devils' new hitman scored a brace against Southampton and ended the month with three goals in as many matches.

The 19-year-old is the first Manchester United player to win the award since Dutch striker Robin van Persie back in April 2013.

Despite claiming the prize, the France international was beaten to United's own Player of the Month by Juan Mata, who scored three goals and assisted three in September.

Martial's form has not been restricted to the Premier League, he also scored in the 3-0 Capital One Cup win over Ipswich Town.

It has been an incredible start to life in the north-west for the £36 million summer signing. His talent was undeniable, but nobody could have envisioned such a prolific beginning to his career in the famous red shirt.

His stock has risen considerably throughout September and he will be a heavily marked man against all opposition.

Quite how he can deal with the added attention is yet to be seen, but he will need to be at his best if the Red Devils are to take anything from a tricky October schedule.

Away trips to Everton and Crystal Palace along with a home Manchester derby could define their hopes of winning the Premier League.

Given his blistering pace, Martial may well be suited to play away from Old Trafford and he will be hoping to get back on the scoresheet at Goodison this weekend having gone three games in all competitions without finding the net.
