Scotland recall Ross Ford and Jonny Gray for Australia match

Scotland head coach Vern Cotter has recalled Ross Ford and Jonny Gray to his team to face World Cup quarter-final opponents Australia following their ban reprieves.

Hooker Ford and lock Gray were handed three-match suspensions earlier this week after being found guilty of dropping Samoa's Jack Lam on his head during last week's final Pool B match in Newcastle.

But the Scots launched an appeal against the punishment and were relieved to learn on Saturday that a World Rugby disciplinary tribunal had backed their claim.

Cotter, though, left it late to confirm that he would slot the duo back into his starting XV, with the news only arriving an hour before kick-off.

As a result, understudy number two Fraser Brown and back-up second-rower Tim Swinson are forced back on to the bench, while Kevin Bryce and Al Strockosh - named amongst the replacements on Friday - miss out altogether.
