Palermo play down Eriksson link

Football News
Palermo have played down speculation that former England head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has been identified as a permanent successor to the sacked Francesco Guidolin.

Guidolin was given the boot on Monday with his assistant Renzo Gobbo installed as coach of the Sicilian club until the end of the season, and - although Eriksson has been linked with the Rosaneri - club officials insist no decision will be made until the summer, playing down talk that the Swede was in the frame.

A Palermo spokesman told PA Sport: "There have been lots of names mentioned in the media but the situation is that Renzo Gobbo is coach until the end of the season. In the summer we will look at who is available and a decision will be taken."
