Juventus lost Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal this summer and by all accounts they almost lost Paul Pogba as well. What fans might not know however is that they were offered the chance to part ways with Claudio Marchisio too, by way of Liverpool making an offer. Claims made by Juve chief Beppe Marotta appear to confirm that the Reds made a bid for Marchisio, but that a move was never on the cards as the player’s first thought is to finish his career in Turin. Marotta mentioned Liverpool by name, but described Juve as a buying club, not a selling one. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has heralded Daniel Sturridge as having been ‘perfect’ in training. The England international sat out of the 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, but Klopp said that if he was fit he would play with no problem. His return will certainly give Liverpool an edge.
