Juventus lost Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal this summer and by all accounts they almost lost Paul Pogba as well.
What fans might not know however is that they were handed the chance to part ways with Claudio Marchisio too, by way of Liverpool making an offer.
Claims made by Juve chief Beppe Marotta appear to confirm that the Reds made a bid for Marchisio, but that a move was never on the cards as the player’s first thought is to finish his career in Turin.
Marotta mentioned Liverpool by name but described Juve as a buying club, not a selling one.
“We get so many offers for our players, but we are used to buying - not selling,” Marotta said, as relayed by The Guardian.
“We have renewed with him, our focus is strong and I think Claudio’s first thought is to finish his career here. Not only Liverpool, we have received several offers.”
Sturridge 'perfect' in training
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has heralded Daniel Sturridge as having been ‘perfect’ in training.
The England international sat out of the 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, but Klopp said that if he was fit he would play with no problem. His return will certainly give Liverpool an edge.
Riise on Mignolet
Lastly, John Arne Riise has admitted that he wasn’t originally a fan of Reds goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, but that he has sine been converted.
Mignolet has a way of splitting opinion regarding his abilities, but he now knows he has a supporter in Riise. The Norwegian tweeted to say ‘Wasn’t a fan. That’s changed now.’
Safe to say he’s probably not the only one to undergo such a change.
