WWE Superstar Sheamus has said in a recent interview that he could beat UFC Champion Conor McGregor in an MMA fight.

Speaking with Robert Hynes of the Irish Mirror, according to NoDQ, The Celtic Warrior was asked if he would have an MMA fight against his fellow Irishman, who is currently the UFC Interim Featherweight Champion.

Sheamus pointed out that he is heavier than as he weighs 267 pounds while McGregor only weighs 145, but he also said he could beat him with ease.

He said: "He was having a go at WWE in these interviews he was doing. The first couple of times I let it go but then I decided to have a bit of craic and banter with him. If someone’s going to have a crack, that’s fine.

"Would I take Conor McGregor? No, he’s a lot shorter than me. I don’t think we’d be allowed fight—a heavyweight and a lightweight. Would I take him (if I had to)? Absolutely. Course I would. No one could take me. No one’s better than me. I could walk over anyone."

Sorry to shut down a dream of many Irish WWE and UFC fans, but a fight isn't going to happen and Sheamus pointed out the obvious reason why. They're not in the same weight category.

However, wouldn't their promos be awesome if they somehow were allowed to fight one another. McGregor wouldn't let Sheamus' bad hair-do die down at all and he would consistently bring it up.

For those that didn't know, NoDQ mentioned The Celtic Warrior and the UFC fighter don't get along on social media, as McGregor once said if they ever got into a fight, “you (Sheamus) will wake up with no teeth and your nose on my mantle.”

Maybe at some point in the future if McGregor is up for it, WWE could pull some strings and make a fight happen. Never say never!
