Lucio wants Coutinho stay
Liverpool fans will be glad to know that they’re not the only ones rooting for Philippe Coutinho to stay at Anfield, with Brazilian legend Lucio having said that his compatriot shouldn’t join Barcelona.
Coutinho’s been linked with a move to the Nou Camp as a result of his brilliant form on Merseyside, and with the departures of Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling, Liverpool are looking increasingly like a club ready to sell big players in the money is right.
However, Lucio said a move to Barca could turn Coutinho into a bit-part entity who simply fills in where he’s needed. We’re inclined to agree, we must say.
"If it was my decision, I would stay. If I was Coutinho, I would not leave Liverpool," Lucio told IBTimes UK.
"Barcelona have several star players like [Lionel] Messi, [Luis] Suarez and Neymar. If Coutinho joins Barcelona, he has to play wherever the coach wants him to play, which would be to fill in here and there."
Klopp considering Markovic recall
In other news, Jurgen Klopp is said to be considering recalling Lazar Markovic from Fenerbahce in the January transfer window as he is an admirer of the winger.
The Serbian was farmed out on loan by Brendan Rodgers but might have better fortunes under Klopp if the German brings him back into his fold.
Rossiter on Rodgers
One man who might not be happy that Klopp has replaced Rodgers is the young Jordan Rossiter, who has claimed that the Northern Irish coach was ‘brilliant’ for him.
Rossiter is one of those who was given his first-team opportunity by Rodgers, but he backed Klopp to carry on the project his predecessor had kick-started.
