It's safe to say that the Liverpool faithful have a special relationship with France international Mamadou Sakho.

The robust, towering defender has come to prominence on Merseyside recently, establishing himself as a favourite among the Kop.

The 25-year-old, formerly of Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, has arguably been the club's most consistent player throughout the course of the campaign.

And last night, as the Reds secured a 1-1 draw with Rubin Kazan in the Europa League, Sakho was once again in stimulating form.

In fact, throughout proceedings, chants of 'Sakho, Sakho, Sakho' could be heard from the Anfield terraces. Unsurprisingly, then, following the player's latest impressive display, Reds fans have taken to social media to praise their beloved star.

They've gone one step further, in fact; supporters of the club have urged new boss Jurgen Klopp to make the 25-year-old the club's next captain...

The club are clearly in need of added guidance on the pitch, so perhaps Sakho really is the man to take the Reds forward under the new regime.

Liverpool fans: should Sakho be handed the captaincy? Have your say below!
