Santino Marella is sadly no longer in the WWE, and that is a loss for pretty much every fan who got to enjoy him.

From the time he debuted when the WWE were in Italy as a man who was picked out of the crowd by Vince McMahon, to that time he had a tea party with Sheamus and Kozlov, the little Italian was an absolute joy.

However, some didn't see him that way, especially the person who once slapped him backstage during his time in WWE's former developmental territory, OVW.

Marella spoke recently with Jordan Garber on his podcast and told the story of how he was once slapped by Jim Cornette.

"Jim Cornette was upset because of The Boogeyman malfunction. Cornette was really pissed some people were laughing and this was like [Boogeyman's] big debut," Santino said.

Here's how it went down. On The Boogeyman's debut in OVW, Cornette wanted him treated like a monster who everyone should be afraid of.

The Boogeyman was trying to leave the arena via an emergency door through the crowd rather than going behind the set. Santino was in the way with his daughter and had no idea, so didn't move for Boogeyman.

"Basically, I have a smirk on my face because I thought The Boogeyman was going to scare my daughter so Cornette thought I was being disrespectful so he called me to the back and slapped me in the face."

And that, ladies and gentleman, is how Jim Cornette was fired by the WWE. He seriously slapped one of his wrestlers in the face a few times.
